Hi i just downloaded solidworks 2012 student edition from dds as my 2011 license has expired. The floor plane which looks like it is the top plane of the assembly model is clipping the model anything below it is gone. Solidworks 2012 sp05 to disable web help from within solidworks and use local help instead click help use. But in case you want to change the more settings then use edit scene change the light settings.

I have attached an image to show the shadow that i wish to render along with final render without shadow since it looks like there is a very faint shadow under the tip of the pin my guess would be that it is how your lighting is set up solidworks vs. Prior the 2012 version this could have been easily done by editing a scene and attach a chosen plane for the floor shadow. This displays solid bodies even if the part is not multi body and allowed me to reset the visibility of the part. From the displaymanager click view scene lights and cameras.

Under floor click floor shadows. Right click scene and select edit scene. Right click scene and click add floor appearance if no floor appearance exists or edit floor appearance if you have added a floor appearance. Also the material settings can be changed for better reflections.

I have encountered a problem where the floor shadows as seen in the solidworks view window are not showing once i render the assembly. Normally we need reflective surface floor for this. One thing in particular that doesn t seem to function as it should compared to the 2011 version is the floor shadow locations. These files are automatically converted to solidworks 2021 format when opened.

Normally when rendering we enable the floor shadows in solidworks using edit options in render tab. In the graphics area right click and select edit scene. From the task pane alt drag or alt double click to apply a scene and open the edit scene propertymanager. If i toggle the floor shadow in the scenes tab everything comes back but what if i want to keep the floor and just move it below my model.
