Replace broken chain belts sprockets or pulleys.
Garage door opener starts to open then stops.
If your garage door opens and suddenly stops it might be because of your logic board.
When the garage door ascends correctly but stops short it is fully open these are the likely causes.
You push the button to close the garage door.

The logic board receives and responds signals to any remote.
This is almost always the result of a dirty or obstructed safety feature.
This switch is usually a simply touch lever mounted on the end of the track near the motor unit and if it is too far away the motor will stop the door before it fully opens.
Check to make sure the pulley is not boken.
This indicates that the springs torsion springs in the case of the photo above are working properly and are not the issue.
If not re engage it.
The up limit switch may need to be moved toward the motor unit.
It goes partway down reverses direction and goes back up again.
If your garage door is closing fully and then reversing to open again then it may be due to a problem with the close limit switch.
Check to make sure the chain belt assembly is not broken or off its pulley.
The door should then lower easily and you can reconnect the opener.
If the door is working properly it should be easy to lift by hand.
In order to fix this you ll want to make small changes to the close limit setting until the door opener knows to stop once the door has reached the floor.
When the door is fully open use a mallet to lightly tap the bent side of the track back into alignment.

Sometimes the limit switch is activated by the movement of a specially shaped nut traveling on this track.
You might need to consider replacing it if your door is not working properly or you may purchase a new opener.
