Garage Door Orientation

Most of the time the end on the right hand wind is red and the left and wind is black as you can see on the graphic below.

If it s on your left side the door is left handed. Loosen the set screws with a wrench while holding the first winding bar you ll feel significant tension as the screws are removed. Most likely you ll just realign and be on your way. Some builders have them swing inward to the garage instead of the home for safety reasons.

Could be wiring or bad sensors if that doesn t fix it since your new gear was put in. Check the alignment of your sensors. This unexpected movement in the garage door s path should cause the garage door to ascend. As the garage door is lowering quickly pass your foot in the path of the closing garage door.

When the garage door touches the wood it should immediately reverse direction and begin to rise. To adjust a door that can t stay open bring the first winding bar up to a 90 degree angle with the garage door this is a quarter turn. If the open doorknob is on your right side it s a right hand door. Usually you will have two springs on your door which will be color coded.

If there s a fire or explosion in the garage the outward swinging door blocks damage to the interior of the home more effectively than an inward swinging door.
